I long believed that my Forney line was descended from Huguenots (French Protestants). I have come to learn that may not be true in fact most likely is not true. There is compelling evidence that shows they most likely came from Switzerland, at least after 1530. They may well have emigrated from France prior to that date. New developments as a result of DNA tests are dispelling old family traditions with irrefutable evidence of relations with Forney lines know to have come from Switzerland.

My mother's paternal side is "Olin" and the maternal side is "Hardin". Both of these families have English roots but both have also been in America since the 17th century.

My Mother's maternal side, the Hardins are believed to have originated in Northampton England and to have arrived in America as early as the 17th century. They were originally Harding's but it's believed they dropped the "G" as it sounded too British around the time of the Revolutionary War. Another common spelling is Harden. Our Hardin line includes a connection to the 29th President Warren G. Harding.
